Do you control your list or does your list control you? If you're like most people, you find yourself spending hours organizing and keeping track of the things that need to be done. Are you feeling overwhelmed? The time management tool that you are using maybe contributing to this feeling. Whether you are loading your tasks into the latest software, index cards, or a sophisticated paper planner; they are all based on linear thinking. Linear thinking only utilizes half of your brain, the left half. Many programs are superb at capturing and organizing. However, these tools don't tap into your emotions, creativity, or vision; which are prominent right-brain functions. In fact, a linear approach leads to procrastination.

Wikipedia describes the task list procrastination phenomenon like this, "by prolonging the planning activity, the individual avoids the tasks he should be doing by creating the illusion that he's still necessarily preparing for them."
